If you are interested in earning a GED SouthWest Metro Adult Education is here to help prepare you for the four content tests that make up the GED. We will help create a class schedule that sets you up for success based on your prior educational experiences and knowledge.  Fill out the enrollment form linked above and a staff member will contact you in the next few days.  

GED includes four tests:

LANGUAGE ARTS
Reading for meaning
Identifying and creating arguments
Grammar and language

SOCIAL STUDIES
Reading for meaning in Social Studies
Analyzing historical events and arguments in Social Studies
Using numbers and graphs in Social Studies

SCIENCE
Reading for meaning in science
Designing and interpreting science experiments
Using numbers and graphs in science

MATHEMATICS
Basic math- Geometry
Basic Algebra
Graphs and functions

Must be 19 years of age (if you are under 19, you may request a waiver)
May not be currently enrolled & have not graduated high school
Must present a driver's license, state ID card, or passport

Classes to prepare adults for taking the GED test are free, however there is a fee for the test. 

Testing fee for Minnesota residents = $120

Official GED Tests are held at SouthWest Metro's Pearson VUE Testing Center

Family Literacy is an education program that integrates instruction for undereducated adults and their children. 
Its purposes are to:

• Break the cycle of low literacy in families

• Increase the literacy skills of adults

• Provide quality learning opportunities for the children of participating adults

• Assist parents in their role as their child's first teacher

• Increase economic self-sufficiency for adults

These purposes are addressed by creating a program designed around four components:

• Adult Literacy

• Early Childhood Education

• Parent Education

• Parent-Child Interaction
