Arts, Communications & Information Systems
Overview
The Arts & Communications pathway offers a cohesive sequence of creative,
career-focused courses that prepare students for work and further study in visual and digital arts industries. Across the pathways, students work in professional-style studios using industry-standard software, cameras, lighting, audio gear, and printmaking/screen-printing equipment while learning to plan, produce, and present real-world projects.
These courses emphasize portfolio development, client-style problem-solving, and collaborative production, helping students connect their creative interests to
concrete career paths in fields such as photography, graphic design, digital media, marketing, film, theater production, and music-related industries. By graduation, students are equipped with technical skills, work habits, and creative artifacts they can use for college applications, internships, entry-level jobs, or entrepreneurial opportunities in the creative sector.
SouthWest Metro provides every student with an Adobe Creative Cloud License and the ability to check out industry-standard photography, videography, lighting and sound equipment.
