Audio is a powerful storytelling tool, no camera needed. Students learn the basics of Logic Pro, recording techniques, sound editing, and organizing digital audio workflows while exploring how sound shapes mood, meaning, and narrative. You’ll create narrative soundscapes, script and produce short podcast episodes, build audiobook-style story segments, and compose digital music using MIDI keyboards, virtual instruments, and multitrack sequencing.

Along the way, you will experiment with microphones, field recordings, voice acting, Foley, and multitrack editing to produce polished audio pieces. The course also introduces careers in recording, podcasting, and public radio, with opportunities to hear from professionals in the field. By the end, you’ll understand how audio on its own or paired with visuals can build worlds and tell stories with clarity and impact.

Turn your love of music into visuals people actually see, wear, and share. You’ll design album covers, posters, concert visuals, social media campaigns, and full branding for a music festival. Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, sketching, and screen printing, you’ll create both digital designs and real merchandise like shirts and posters.

You’ll also study how artists build their image and connect with fans, and explore careers in music marketing, graphic design, stage visuals, merch production, and digital media. By the end, you’ll have a portfolio of work made for the music world—no musical background required.

Students will use the design process to take a show from script to stage, learning how visual choices shape a theatrical story. You’ll create posters, playbills, and digital marketing materials, plus scenic concept art, simple drafting, costume sketches, and introductory lighting and practical effects. The class also spotlights careers in scenic, costume, lighting, projection, graphic design, and theater marketing, with guest visits from professionals at places like the Guthrie Theater and Children’s Theatre Company.

By the end, you’ll have a small portfolio of theatrical design work and a clearer sense of where you might fit in the world of live performance. No prior theater experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Most work is hands-on and collaborative, so expect to draw, build, prototype, and present your ideas to others. If you like art, film, fashion, architecture, or graphic design, this course lets you test-drive those
interests in a theater setting.

In this immersive course, you’ll explore photography and video production while learning how to capture portraits, events, concerts, sports and commercial projects using professional Nikon DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Discover digital and film photography, including how images are developed and processed, and bring your work to life with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.

Get hands-on in our program’s commercial studio while learning lighting techniques and using state- of-the-art industry equipment. Visiting art museums, production studios, and live events, plus guest speakers from across the industry to give you a behind-the-scenes look at creative careers. This course will provide you with real-world experience to start your path in photography, filmmaking, and visual media.

In this advanced course, you’ll take your photography and videography skills to the next level by working directly with clients and creating professional content for real-world projects. Develop a streamlined editing workflow using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro while mastering advanced studio techniques, lighting, composition, and multimedia storytelling.

You’ll gain hands-on experience producing content for social media, commercial projects, and live events, while exploring focused career paths in visual media. Field experiences and guidance from industry professionals give you real-world insight, helping you build a polished portfolio, expand client-based experience, and develop the skills needed for careers in photography, videography, content creation, social media, and visual media.

This capstone course prepares you to launch a career in visual media while stepping into leadership roles. You’ll focus on building a professional portfolio, creating content for social media and online platforms, and establishing a strong digital presence to showcase your work. Learn strategies to market yourself, attract clients, and manage projects from concept to delivery.

You’ll learn traditional techniques like linocut, block printing, and screen printing alongside digital tools such as Procreate and Adobe Illustrator. Projects include designing logos, posters, zines, and merch-ready artwork (stickers, T-shirts, prints) while exploring color, composition, and visual storytelling. From sketchbook thumbnails to digitized designs to finished prints, you’ll build a portfolio that can lead toward careers in graphic design, illustration, animation, and marketing.

Visual Production Lab is a hands-on creative studio where students learn how to plan, shoot, and edit visual stories for screens of all sizes. Using DSLR/phone cameras, studio lighting, and industry-style software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects), you’ll create short films, promos, music videos, photo essays, motion graphics, and social-media-ready content.

Projects walk you through the full production pipeline concept, storyboard, shot list, filming, editing, and final export while building skills in composition, lighting, sound syncing, and visual effects. By the end of the course, you’ll have a small reel or portfolio showcasing your best work for future classes, college programs, or creative careers.
