What is an Intermediate School District?
Intermediate School Districts were established by the Minnesota Legislature in 1969 and are governed by Minnesota Statute Chapter 136D under Postsecondary Education.
They are defined as, “cooperative program[s]...that offer integrated services for secondary, postsecondary, and adult students in the areas of vocational education, special education, and other authorized services".
Intermediate Districts are also governed by Minnesota Statute, chapters 120 through 129C on PreK-12 education.
